bench stones
The standard stone sets for sale here are Precision Ground Combination Bench Stones. These man-made stones with one medium and one fine face. You may choose Aluminum Oxide (Orange/Brown) or Silicon Carbide (Gray/Light Gray). This is your choice, but by far most individuals doing finish type work will order Aluminum Oxide. There is a large amount of information on the internet about stone types and use if you are interested in the subject.
These stones are ground on a precision surface grinder capable of making parts flat and square to 50 millionths of an inch. Each face of every ground stone is checked by hingeing it on a granite surface plate of Grade A certification. Stones that do not pass are selectively reground or lapped to the appropriate standard.

I do offer grinding services for your bench stones or if you have an old stone that needs to be cleaned and ground please send me some information about them in the general inquiry form below. I will provide a quote for precision grinding on a case-by-case basis.

When I am not in my shop, I am a businessowner and veterinarian that lives on a 26 acre farm in north Florida. My wife, Laura, joins me in the shop now. In her spare time, she is deep into glass fusing with her first kiln. (I may have to make more room for her future kilns.) The farm has 20 cattle, and baby calfs are born every couple of months here. We have 2 dogs and 1 cat, and love it out here where you can see the stars in the sky at night.
When we are not working on our own projects, we love to travel.
